_§This volume considers, and potentially rethinks and reorganizes how support for learning across working life can be best conceptualized, organized and enacted. The key focus for contributions to this volume are on what kind of models for organizing these learning experiences are to be used in continuing education and training, professional development and recurrent education. An additional question is in what ways these models are likely to be effective for different kinds of work, learning and learners. Therefore, considerations for educational and learning support processes need to include approaches that fit well within working lives and workplaces, and support work and learning as a co-occurrence.§The book is divided in three sections. That is an introductory section, followed by: i) one associated with models, processes and procedures for supporting continuing education and training, and ii) one in which the processes and outcomes of a major national study of continuing education and training are elaborated, illuminating and, in part, addressing the key issues outlined above. The volume comprises 16 chapters that are provided by contributors from Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, United States, New Zealand, Canada and Australia, and provide a range of international perspectives on supporting and guiding this learning in workplaces and educational institutions. Their perspectives also cover a range of occupations, from semi-skilled to professional.
